Minutes:

The Highways Improvement Notice for Lambourne Crescent, Melksham was noted.

 

Having reviewed the application members decided that there was sufficient space for cars to pass should a vehicle be parked.

 

It was proposed by Councillor Mortimer, seconded by the Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor Goodhind, and 

 

UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that the Town Council would not support the Highways Improvement Notice request for additional yellow lines on Lambourne Crescent.

                                    To amend the schedule to supply alcohol from 6.00am until midnight, seven days a week (see attached).

The Town Mayor, Councillor Hubbard, confirmed Aldi had previously increased their trading hours and are applying to sell alcohol from 6.00 am to midnight, seven days a week. It was proposed by the Town Mayor, Councillor Hubbard, seconded by Councillor S Crundell and 

 

UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED to object to the application on the grounds that:

·         it would create a public nuisance

·         it is outside the Sunday trading laws

·         it is against Core Policy 57 and

that Melksham Town Council ask Wiltshire Council’s Licensing team to check that Aldi are operating withing their approved trading hours.

To note the Temporary Road Closure application for 14 November 2021 Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony (see attached).

 

The roads to be closed are:

 

Church Walk (whole); Canon Square (whole); Church Street (Whole); High Street (from junction with Lowbourne to Market Place); Market Place (Whole); King Street (part) (from its junction with Market Place to its junction with King Street car park).

 

Comments on the proposal, together with the reasons for which they are made, should be forwarded to the Traffic Orders Team, Wiltshire Council by 24th September 2021.
