DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

To receive any Declarations of Interest in respect of items on this agenda as required by the Code of Conduct adopted by the Council.

 

Members are reminded that, in accordance with the Council’s Code of Conduct, they are required to declare any disclosable pecuniary interest or other registrable interests which have not already been declared in the Council’s Register of Interests. Members may however, also decide, in the interests of clarity and transparency, to declare at this point in the meeting, any such disclosable pecuniary interests which they have already declared on the Register, as well as any other registrable or other interests.

The Terms of Reference were adopted by the Town Council on 23 April 2019.  Subject to some additions and amendments, these have been made in accordance with Council’s instruction and are presented to the committee for adoption.

The Terms of reference were approved.

VERBAL REPORT BY THE TOWN CLERK ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STAFFING REVIEW

Minutes:

The Town Clerk went through the change management protocol which  had governed the procedure for implementation of the approved  staffing restructure.  The town clerk was pleased to report that the proposals had been received well by the officer team.  Each member of staff had been invited to one to one interviews to discuss the changes and offer any ideas or challenges to the proposals.

 

The Town Clerk reported that there had been two requests for voluntary redundancy and these had been approved.

 

The newly created roles would be advertised in the Melksham Independent News, on the Town Council’s website and Facebook pages, the Assistant to the Clerk and Economic Development Manager would be advertised nationally with the Society of Local Council Clerks and Action for Town and City Centre Managers.

 

Members were pleased to report that they felt the whole process had been handled professionally and diligently.

RETAINING LINDA ROLLASON ON A RETAINER - ADDITIONAL TO THE ELLIS WHITHAM CONTRACT

Minutes:

It was proposed by the Town Mayor Councillor Hubbard, seconded by Councillor Westbrook and

 

            UNNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED to approve a further ten days of employment support for a sum of £5850

 

The Town Mayor Councillor Hubbard reminded members how important it was to make sure the Town Council followed proper procedures when it came to employment of staff.
