Minutes:

Councillor Watts, as the applicant, declared an interest in item 5 regarding a Tree Preservation Order at Berkeley House.

Councillor Pain, as a board director of Selwood Housing declared an interest in planning application 19/05915 for a single storey rear extension to provide a bedroom and bathroom at 10 Sangster Avenue.

Minutes:

The minutes of 17 June 2019, having previously been circulated were approved and signed as a correct record.

 

It was agreed to move item 6 regarding the closure of access to Melksham House from Place Road further up the agenda to allow members of the public to speak to this item.

Given concerns from Members of the Public, following the closure of the entrance to Melksham House from Place Road.  Members to consider sending a response to Wiltshire Council.

 

Minutes:

Councillor Hubbard explained after making some enquiries with Wiltshire Council, it would following complaints from residents of Place Road and concerns with regard to construction traffic potentially accessing Place Road, a decision had been made to temporarily close off this access.

 

Correspondence had also been received from Mike Dawson, Asset Manager, Wiltshire Council confirming the following:

 

·         That the public had no right of access to or from Melksham House from Place Road (be it pedestrian or vehicular).

·         Wiltshire Council have pedestrian and vehicular rights of way to and from Melksham House over Place Road.

·         None of the leases granted by Wiltshire Council to the sports clubs allows for access to or from Place Road.

·         Any pedestrian or vehicular access to and from Melksham House from Place Road by members of the public at present is not authorised by Wiltshire Council.

 

It was proposed by Councillor Adrienne Westbrook, seconded by Councillor Hubbard, and

 

RESOLVED:  To write to Wiltshire Council thanking them for keeping the Town Council informed and to seek confirmation that once the campus is built, pedestrian access will be reinstated into Place Road.
