People and Places Committee

Purpose of committee

The People and Places Committee is responsible for ensuring the Council plays its full role in promoting the cleanliness and safety of the town and its open spaces, and supports and strengthens community activities, participation and events.

 

It administers the Council’s grants scheme, supports other organisations through a variety of partnership agreements, responds to community safety and environment issues, (including climate change initiatives), community engagement and council communications, social inclusion and events.

 

It meets monthly on the second Monday of the month and all Councillors are members of this committee.  Agendas are issued on the Town Council’s website and on notice boards, (when pandemic restrictions allow), with three clear days’ notice and set out the business to be transacted.  All meetings are open to the public who are welcome to speak at the meeting but make a request in writing no later than the day before the meeting.
