20/01359/AS

109 High Street.

Provision of parking space within front garden area and partial removal of hedge.

Mrs. Whitehead reported that there is only one car parking space for a compact car serving this 4 bed house. There is no room to park two conventional cars there.  As regards the proximity to the War Memorial, the design would ensure the front High Street boundary would not be altered and no green space would be lost.

Mr. P. Shaw and Dr. J. Shaw expressed their objection to this proposal as it would have a detrimental visual impact on the central area of the historic green space of Tenterden and they had concerns on its close proximity to the War Memorial.

Cllr. Dr. Lovelidge commented that this would be a good solution to their parking problem, as long as the hedge remained and there was no visual impact on the High Street.

Cllr. Crawford understood the sensitivity as this is in a conservation area and the lawns are spectacular but he felt that a tall hedge would prevent anyone seeing the car and suggested that a request was made for a condition that the hedge is extended.

SUPPORT on Condition that the hedge is extended to reduce the visual impact of the vehicles on the High Street.
