LETTER OF APPRECIATION.

To consider sending letters of appreciation (personally signed by the Town Mayor) to all those who volunteered with Helping in Tenterden to assist in the Covid response.

Minutes:

The Town Mayor commented that the idea of sending letters of appreciation to thank all those who volunteered with Helping in Tenterden is a lovely idea, but felt that there are plenty of other people in the community that have helped others, not only through Helping in Tenterden. There are people that have helped individuals with shopping and all the shop workers who went over and above to provide a service who should be included too; we need to be very careful not to miss anyone out.

Cllr. Mrs Walder suggested that perhaps Canon Reverend Hammond could be asked to hold a church service to give thanks and to acknowledge what the community has gone through. Cllr. Hickmott commented that some people will give their personal thanks but a general thank you should be given to everybody.

Cllr. Mrs Ferguson commented that any form of thanks should be as inclusive as possible.  To date, Helping in Tenterden are coming up to 950 missions which is an incredible amount. Cllr. Sugden pointed out that we should be thanking everyone for the support still being given as the pandemic is not yet over.

The Deputy Town Clerk suggested that a full page ‘thank you’ could be put in the upcoming Newsletter in September and be in an all-inclusive form. Cllr. Quinton suggested that a banner could be placed on the Town Hall balcony.

It was RESOLVED that the Town Mayor will attend the next Helping in Tenterden meeting to discuss the ideas presented.
